ABOUT THE
NOR MOR SMOK PROGRAM
In 2020, the Torres Health Indigenous Corporation launched the Nor Mor Smok program to combat the high smoking numbers across the Torres Strait region.
The Nor Mor Smok Program is nationally recognised as the Tackling Indigenous Smoking Program and Torres Health decided to customise and adapt the program name and identity to better resonate with Torres Strait Islanders.
The naming of the program is by Marsat Ketchell, a local Health Worker and respected elder in the Torres Strait community. The artwork used as the program’s branding was designed by Moana Ahwang of Moana’s Creations. Moana is a talented Torres Strait artist with vibrant storytelling pieces.
Torres Health Indigenous Corporation is a community managed health service and care provider based on Thursday Island in the Torres Strait. Our vision is to see people living longer, being healthier and leading fulfilling lives.
